South American Wines

Wines from Argentina, Chile and Uruguay,

together with wines from USA, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, make up the so-called New World region. That is to say, those wine regions that do not belong to the original European ones.

After so many decades in which these new countries have developed such a successful wine industry I consider that the New World classification no longer applies.

Although the first vines were brought from Europe to Chile and Argentina in the pre-phylloxera stage, it is undeniable that they have found in the then called New World, a particular terroir where to develop. It allowed the production of wines with their own characteristic. This wines are distinctive from those that can be found in the original European regions. Tasting wines from Argentina, Chile and Uruguay with a professional wine taster is an experience worth living.

South American wines have been attracting enormous interest from wine connoisseurs, experts and consumers around the world for decades, but what makes them so special?
